Useful African Phrases
We thought we'd share with you some useful African phrases. This month we focus on Zambia and Malawi.
English is the official language and is widely spoken and understood in Zambia and Malawi, although a number of indigenous languages are also spoken.
Zambia has 73 dialects! Of the 73 languages, the most generally used are Bemba and Nyanja.
Malawi has 9 dialects; however the most common language is Chewa (or Chichewa – the language of the Chewa). Other languages spoken are Nyanja including some Asian and European languages.
Below are a few useful phrases to practice;
