When people think of Botswana, what generally springs to mind is the Delta, the Kalahari and Chobe.  However these well known tourist destinations are only a small part of what the country has to offer.

One of Botswana’s hidden gems to discover is Tuli.  The Tuli Block is situated in the south-eastern most corner where the country meets South Africa and Zimbabwe.  With just over 1 hours flight or a straightforward drive from Johannesburg, Tuli really is ‘Botswana on the doorstep’.

We can list many reasons why Tuli should be part of your itinerary, but here are 5 main reasons to look beyond the obvious Botswana destinations and give Tuli a try.

1. Stunning Scenery
The Northern Tuli Game Reserve is unlike the rest of Botswana in terms of its remarkable scenery – typified by huge vistas, big skies, rocky outcrops and baobab-studded plains. This is a geologist and photographer’s dream location!

2. Great Game Viewing
Game viewing and birding is diverse and has the added bonus of a spectacular backdrop. Tuli is known for its large elephant herds and has a good record for cheetah, lion, leopard and hyena sightings. It also has huge numbers of giraffe and great herds of game.

4. Fantastic Links Throughout the Region
Tuli is a perfect standalone destination offering an authentic and varied safari experience. It’s a great stopover if you’re travelling between South Africa, Botswana and beyond. Tuli will tie in well with your itinerary with visits to the northern part of South Africa, including Mapungubwe, the Kruger National Park, Madikwe, Marakele and Waterberg. With regular flights into the reserve from Johannesburg you can easily combine Tuli with any destination in Southern Africa.

5. Family Safaris
Most of the accommodation options in Tuli welcome children of all ages and is an ideal spot for multi-generational family getaways – with a wide range of activities and plenty of opportunities to relax.
