Kwara Camp – Kwando Safaris
Camp with 8 en-suite tents
Kwara camp is situated on the edge of the permanent waters of the world renowned Okavango Delta in Botswana, and shares a common boundary with Moremi Game Reserve. Kwando Safaris offers it all - Africa’s big game, the Okavango Delta, Nxai Pan and the Central Kalahari Gamer Reserve. The Okavango Delta is a 1.6 million ha wilderness of water, reed, trees and flood plains in the middle of the Kalahari sands – the largest block of sand on earth. The Delta is world renowned for its biodiversity and contrasts - a must see on any African safari.
Most of the tents are raised on teak decks to afford views over the surrounding plains and lagoon with the resident hippos.

Accommodation and Facilities
The elegant, comfortable and simple décor of the teak furniture used around the camp was created by Zimbabwean master craftsmen.
Most of the tents are raised on teak decks to afford views over the surrounding plains and lagoon with the resident hippos.
Kwara, like the other camps has a small splash pool and a gift shop. The camp consists of 8 luxury tents accommodating 16 guests. There is one honeymoon suite. The camp setting, in a tall treed island, on the edge of the Okavango Delta completes the picture of this special camp.
Activities
Due to the specific location of the camp, Kwara is able to offer power boating, mokoro (dug out canoe) trips, walks and game drives – all year round. Kwara also offers fishing for 10 months of the year. Under government regulations they are not permitted to fish during January or February, as this is peak breeding season. In addition, Kwara is in a large private concession enabling the game drives to operate both off road and at night.
The ability to operate off road and at night is critical in order to see the up to 30% of interesting mammal species that are mainly active at night. These include leopard, lion, wild dog, hyena and smaller predators. The presence of permanent water ensures year round game viewing. The permanent water ensures that mokoro trips (dugout canoes) can take place in shallow water throughout the year. Kwara is one of the few camps able to make this claim.
Lebala Camp – Kwando Safaris
Camp with 8 en-suite tents
Hidden in the Southern portion of the extensive Kwando wilderness of 232 000 ha. (550 000 acres) is Lebala Camp. Lebala is the Tswana word for wide-open plains, and each tent has extensive views over expansive tracts of African plains and wetlands, that comprise part of the Kwando-Linyanti flood plain system. This system is an intricate labyrinth of waterways, reed beds, islands, floodplains, bush, scrub and trees. To those in the know - somewhat Okavango like but something different too.
Kwando Lebala Camp comprises of 16 beds in 8 luxuriously spacious tents, on Zimbabwe teak decks. Each tent is surrounded by spectacular shade cloth walls, with a variety of curtains and shades so you can control how much light you let in or not.

Accommodation and Facilities
Sliding doors and a spacious bedroom area, bathroom including a Victorian claw bathtub, double basins, outside double showers, separate toilet and fans.
The teak furniture created for us by Zimbabwean master craftsmen is elegant, comfortable and simple, leaving the tent looking spacious and tasteful. The clean simple lines created by the shade cloth, and variety of curtains, will complete the picture of privacy and space. The shade cloth walls allow you to view the sunrises and sunsets from the safety of your rooms whilst also viewing the elephant’s and hippo’s walking past your room in the light of the full moon.
Activities
Lebala complements the Kwando Lagoon Camp experience by offering a spectacularly different setting, scenery and experience from that offered by Lagoon. Guests staying at both camps have enjoyed game drives, including night drives, in vastly different settings. Excellent general game abounds on the broad plains, creating spectacular scenery, adorned with herds of plains game and the ever-attendant predators.
Lebala offers regular and reliable sightings of elephant, lion, wild dog, leopard, cheetah, giraffe, zebra, tsessebe, kudu, lechwe, impala, wildebeest and waterbuck in stunning settings. Lebala is famous for elephant sightings as is neighbouring Lagoon Camp, 3 hours drive north. In fact the Kwando concession is home to more elephant than the entire country of South Africa. Some of this game can be viewed from the comfort of the pool deck.

Fishing is also enjoyed for 10 months of the year. Due to Government regulations fishing is not permitted in January and February. Boat cruises are also conducted on the Kwando River from the shady Lagoon Camp. Therefore we feel that the ideal Kwando experience will involve stays at all their camps including Nxai Pan, Tau Pan and either Kwara or Little Kwara.
